Our client are an international leading engineer and manufacturer of furniture for the retail sector.

They are looking to recruit for a new Design Engineer to design and develop innovative cost-effective solutions for varied and demanding market sectors.

Salary of a Design Engineer

Circa £30,000

Job Description of a Design Engineer

• Design and develop innovative solutions in sheet metal work and timber using 3D CAD packages.
• Drive NPD projects through the business from conception through to engineering release.
• Responsible for implementation of all design information including Bills of Materials.
• Carry out costing estimation activities and participate in tender cost analysis.
• Project manage the sourcing of engineering prototypes and customer samples.
• Manage engineering change and non-conformance.
• Chair/participate in new product development reviews.
• Chair/participate in various meetings; internally, with suppliers and customers.
• Undertake site visits and surveys as and when required (both in the UK and abroad)

Skills & experience of a Design Engineer

• HNC Minimum in an Engineering related discipline.
• Experience of working with 2D/3D CAD systems.
• A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to sheet metal, joinery or fabrication is desirable.
