About Internal and Change Communications

Our dynamic Internal and Change Communications team supports our objective of making HMRC a great place to work by using the latest digital communications and pioneering innovative approaches to engage our audiences.

The team works closely with colleagues across HMRC Communications and the wider business to ensure that our workforce deliver at their best and have a community we can all take pride in. Job description About the role

Our existing HMRC Intranet is hosted on technology which is coming to end of life support, and we have the opportunity to introduce improvements on the new replacement technology solution, based on feedback from our Intranet users. Our aim is to improve employee experience and productivity through re-platforming and re-thinking the corporate Intranet, prioritising ease of access, personalised content and a much-enhanced search function that allows users to navigate to relevant content quickly.

The Programme Management Office (PMO) is an enabling support function within the Intranet Transformation Programme that ensures robust governance and reporting mechanisms are in place, developing and maintaining high standards, processes and assurance activities.

Please Note: This is a fixed term appointment until 31 March 2023.

Responsibilities This PMO Governance & Reporting Lead role will suit a motivated self-starter who will report directly to the Programme and Governance Manager.

Responsibilities include;

• Setting up a Programme Management Office.

• Line management of a team of 4 x Project Support and Planner staff.

• Ensuring the smooth and timely planning, preparation and running of all governance boards.

• Leading on benefits and risk management approaches across the programme.

• Supporting and leading on aspects of the financial management cycle.

• Supporting on management of the Programme Integrated Plan and associated tasks.

• Effective management of PMO resources and capacity planning to ensure PMO delivers an effective service.

• Managing regular and ad-hoc reporting commissions and ensuring they are responded to in a timely and accurate manner.

• Co-ordinate internal and external assurance activity in line with programme requirements.

Essential Criteria

You are required to demonstrate experience of the following within your application:

• Experience of leading in a Programme Management Office.

• Experience in Benefits and/or Risk Management.

• Strong Microsoft Office suite skills (O365, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

Desirable Criteria

• A relevant professional qualification in Project & Programme Management (P30, PRINCE2, Management of Risk).

Please Note: The successful applicant for this role will need to be eligible for and willing to undergo standard BPSS Checks following appointment into the post.

This post requires vetting to SC level which can be undertaken once in post; appointment without SC clearance will be conditional on successfully attaining SC. Please be aware that if SC is not granted the offer will be removed and you will be released from the role, which is likely to result in being placed into the redeployment pool if another suitable position is unavailable.
