Our client are looking to recruit a permanent person as a Senior Digital and Technology Manager to support the continued growth and expansion of their business. The individual will lead the development of the manufacturing engineering team to ensure the latest digitisation and manufacturing technology is developed, deployed, and standardised to achieve the strategic objectives.

The main office location will be the Global Head Office in Burgess Hill although this is seen as a hybrid opportunity for the right person. It represents a great opportunity to work globally within the Service Division and play a key role in the Leadership Team to ensure our innovation objectives are achieved to improve our efficiency and capabilities with our Service Technology Centres. International travel will therefore be required on occasion.

The successful applicant will provide leadership of the technology and systems manufacturing engineers, to ensure the correct skills, capabilities, and knowledge is in place to allow the delivery of divisional objectives. In a rapidly growing and changing landscape the development and introduction of the most suitable technology to allow sustainable growth will become critical. The deployment of the technology needs to be managed using industry standards processes to ensure operational tasks required to support our customers is not impacted.

Being responsible for the execution of the strategic road-map, you will ensure the correct technology is introduced to allow the development of SMART manufacturing facilities and will collaborate across the Group, and research institutions supporting the development of technology using Capability Readiness Level principles. Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills will be required to ensure the Service Technology Centre (STC) requirements are linked into other projects to reduce duplication of tasks and maximise our return on investment (ROI).

Main Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the leadership and development of the team ensuring the correct skills are in place to execute the Industry 4.0 strategy.
  • Investigate the latest technologies which further improve our manufacturing and service capabilities to ensure the customer requirements are achieved.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the innovation road-map and ensuring the deployment and handover of the technology meets the standards.
  • Drive the digital and technology development and deployment through the capability readiness level processes ensuring the technology aligns to the divisional strategic objectives and managing the R&D budget $10M over 4 years.
  • Support the standardisation of the technology and support the growth of key users within the STC's.
  • Delivery the technology growth within the business which supports and maximises the $78M investment plan.
  • Collaboration needs to become one of our core values to ensure each investment is maximised, sharing best practice and implementation of ideas from other areas across the Group.
  • Develop the brand identity of the Innovation team
  • Stakeholder management of the core and key functions
  • Development of a digital culture for the Semi-Service BA improving awareness of digital capabilities.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • A Degree level qualification in a Manufacturing Engineering discipline.
  • Previous practical experience of a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of Project Management principles. Experience of managing broad portfolio of complex projects.
  • Experience of developing and executing a variety of project types including large-scale CAPEX projects, including production of financial models and business cases.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, development and improvements of capability introduction standards
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, VSM, PFMEA, Problem Solving Tools and of safety management tools
  • Proficient in use of engineering and productivity tools
  • Fluent English language - able to hold technical discussions.
  • Experience of managing and leading teams.
  • Proven leadership and people development disciplines.
  • Able to work with high degree of ambiguity and can lead teams through this without loss of focus.
  • Extensive experience of managing external stakeholders including suppliers and contractors.
  • High level of customer focus, and extensive experience of working to understand and fulfil their needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication are a necessity
  • Able to operate effectively from shop floor to senior leadership team.
  • High level of organisational awareness, and experience in influencing skills across the business areas.
  • Curious and inquisitive mindset and open to challenges current thinking as there is always a 'better way'
  • Able to multitask on a variety of work tasks and projects.
  • Experience of change management and building teams to deliver the objectives.
  • Focused on continuous self-development.

Remuneration package includes:

  • Basic salary of up to £85,000 per annum (Depending on suitability)
  • 33 days holiday per annum
