Revenue & Customs Digital Technology Services (RCDTS) are working alongside HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and implementing bold plans to transform our IT and digital services. Our role sits within Chief Digital & Information Group (CDIO), whose vision is to run a secure, flexible and modern IT estate that enables innovation to meet changing policy needs and evolving customer and colleague expectations.

We work with hardworking, upbeat people who grow with the challenge of delivering transformation on a huge scale, and who already have real hands-on experience of driving through both technical and business changes.

The Team

Service Management & Operations (SM&O) are accountable for the digital strategy and end-to-end IT services to enable us to build a brilliant IT system and services for the future, as well as focusing is on ensuring consistent, excellent Customer Experience.

We work with the other platform groups and their partners to bring those IT Systems and Services together and use the ServiceNow Platform capability to drive operational efficiencies, reduce costs and improve customer and colleague experience.


The ideal candidate

As a resilient, experienced Supplier Relationship Manager you will be able to demonstrate success in leading suppliers in a large and sophisticated organisation.

Duties will include:

  • leading and maintaining positive relationships with key partners and suppliers to optimally handle suppliers in an operational environment
  • Facilitate regular supplier review meetings
  • Resolution of supplier and delivery group issues
  • Understand and interpret SLA and KPIs to effectively measure supplier performance
  • Support the development of the Supplier Management Practice
  • Identify and implement continual improvements to supplier management across CDIO
  • Provide input into senior leader reports.
  • Developing a detailed understanding of Service/ Supplier Management with minimal need for supervision or support.


Essential criteria

You will already have knowledge and experience of

  • Handling suppliers in a large organisation
  • Displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain integrity and work to deadlines.
  • Delivering success in a customer facing role whilst looking after partners at all levels
  • Working on detail-orientated tasks
  • Using Microsoft Office Tools at an intermediate level
  • Working collaboratively to share standard methodology
  • Promoting continuous improvement across a supplier network


Ideal you will also have

  • An understanding of ITIL

HMRC’s Technology Sourcing Programme 

HMRC faces a number of contract expiries combined with the need to re-balance control over its digital and technology capability to ensure HMRC can respond quickly and effectively to changing requirements and priorities.

This is a multi-year programme to transform how HMRC delivers and uses IT. The programme is in place to design and deliver the safe disaggregation, exit and transition of HMRC’s major IT contracts and stand-up new arrangements to deliver both IT run and change activity.

The programme will develop and implement a new technology supply chain model, protect live services, enable the department to remediate and prevent technical debt, reduce risk in our IT estate, improve cost effectiveness, provide flexibility and establish partnerships with suppliers to deliver innovation.
