About Internal and Change Communications

Our dynamic Internal and Change Communications team supports our objective of making HMRC a great place to work by using the latest digital communications and pioneering innovative approaches to engage our audiences.

The team works closely with colleagues across HMRC Communications and the wider business to ensure that our workforce deliver at their best and have a community we can all take pride in. Job description We are looking for a senior communications professional to join our internal communications team. Working on high-profile internal communications you will have a strong record of achievement in communications delivery, with excellent relationship management, planning and drafting skills.

Intranet Communications Manager:

HMRC is developing a new, and improved, corporate intranet which will make it easier for our colleagues to access and use.

The successful post holder will support the Intranet Transformation Programme, which sits in the Transformation Directorate.

In this role you will be primarily focusing on the development and delivery of effective communication plans and activity to support the successful delivery and ongoing transformation of HMRCs new intranet. You will be responsible for delivering high quality impactful communications which engage all colleagues.

Responsibilities As a senior communications officer you will:

• Build effective working relationships with colleagues across HMRC to identify and deliver communications requirements, providing advice, challenge and support.

• Provide advice and innovative solutions on how communications can help support business objectives.

• Identify and manage issues and potential risks.

• Translate objectives into clear and compelling strategies, plans and messages that resonate with target audiences, and are aligned with wider internal communications activity.

• Draft and commission high quality communication products, and deliver these through appropriate channels, working with specialist delivery teams within communications as required.

• Evaluate the impact of communications activity using the Government Communications Service (GCS) evaluation framework.

Essential Criteria

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience of delivering internal communications preferably in a large, complex organisation.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills – able to negotiate and influence others including peers and senior stakeholders to deliver successfully.

• Demonstrable skills in developing, delivering and evaluating impactful communications to that engage and motivate audiences and support delivery of business objectives.

• Comfortable working at pace, and managing competing priorities.

Desirable Criteria

• Knowledge and experience of using digital and social media tools to improve reputation and colleague engagement.

• Familiarity with the GCS campaign planning model and evaluation approach. Behaviours
