Job Title - Quality Engineer

Salary – 40-45k

Location – Durham

Responsibilities

  • Assess effectiveness of Quality and manufacturing systems to meet customer and business requirements
  • Lead and support corrective,  preventive and improvement activities in-line with business demands
  • Provide timely and consistent Quality and manufacturing systems appraisals.
  • Generate appropriate data and reports to measure manufacturing process conformance – identifying gaps between actual and required. Coordinate and drive the identification and implementation of countermeasures to improve   
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions relating to non-conforming products, processes and systems.
  • Review of existing procedures, work instructions, control plans for clarity of purpose, scope and desired result, ease of interpretation and applicability with the objective of eliminating error – fool proofing and minimising inconsistencies.
  • Periodic Audit of systems and processes at a manufacturing unit and process stage level. 
  • Promote and be a resource for Continuous Improvement and poke yoke methodologies within the business
  • Constantly seek ways and means of improving methods and techniques currently employed within the company.  To actively support and participate in improvement activities which are not directly related to key functions.
  • Evaluate the cost of rework/production problems/customer problems in key areas and feedback the relevant data. Assist in the identification of countermeasures to rectify.
  • Identify safety hazards in working practices and equipment, implementing improvements wherever possible and reporting such hazards where applicable.

 

Education & Experience

  •  experience in a mass production environment operating within ISO-9000 and Continuous Improvement requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of quality and documentation systems, from both an improvement and implementation perspective.
  • Customer focussed with a good level of appreciation of business requirements
  • Experienced with a Continuous Improvement role – Six sigma experience
  • HND in Engineering discipline

  • Good understanding of quality tools ( Design of Experiments, SPC, cause & effect, FMEA )
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Data mining skills
  • Positive attitude, creating a good impression on others
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to actively participate and lead in a variety of teams, support the team objective.
  • Pro-active, constantly seeking to improve.
