Responsibilities

As our Safety Practitioner, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Contributing to the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the DE&S corporate standards for Acquisition Safety Management
Working with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations and DE&S Policy
Supporting the development and management of effective Safety Management Systems; identifying and analysing hazards and contributing to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed
Specifying safety-related systems architectures up to the highest safety integrity levels
Managing contractual aspects to ensure safety requirements are captured and manages contractors who perform safety activities
Providing informed safety advice to decision makers through Project Safety Panels

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

* You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g. HNC) qualification in a relevant Science/Engineering related subject or will demonstrate the equivalent experience
* You will hold or be working towards Practitioner status in System Safety
* You will hold Professionally Registered status or will demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and experience; or are able to achieve this within 12 months of starting in the post
* You will have experience in the use of ASEMS and System Safety Management Tools & Processes
* You will have experience of providing technical advice and delivery of safety products or services from within an Air environment.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competencies and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
