About Internal and Change Communications

Our dynamic Internal and Change Communications team supports our objective of making HMRC a great place to work by using the latest digital communications and pioneering innovative approaches to engage our audiences.

The team works closely with colleagues across HMRC Communications and the wider business to ensure that our workforce deliver at their best and have a community we can all take pride in. Job description Our existing HMRC Intranet is hosted on technology which is coming to end of life support, and we have the opportunity to introduce improvements on the new replacement technology solution, based on feedback from our Intranet users. Our aim is to improve employee experience and productivity through re-platforming and re-thinking the corporate Intranet, prioritising ease of access, personalised content and a much-enhanced search function that allows users to navigate to relevant content quickly.

The Project Planner will oversee the Programme Integrated Microsoft Programme Plan in line with planning standards to support the delivery of the project’s objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to a business change that will impact on all HMRC employees using the Intranet for years to come.

This programme is currently scheduled to run until March 2023. This is a fixed term appointment to the 31st March 2023.

The role is suitable for existing HMRC employees who are contractual homeworkers with occasional attendance to the office.

Responsibilities Reporting into the PMO Manager, you will ensure that Programme controls are implemented and managed and that they adhere to PPM best practice standards. The Project Planner will be responsible for:

•Developing and maintaining the integrated Programme Plan and critical path using Microsoft Project for the Programme

• Working closely with Programme colleagues (internal and external) to ensure appropriate escalation of Milestones, Dependencies, Risks and Issues

•Providing hands on planning support as and when needed to projects/workstreams, ensuring planning standards are adhered to and appropriate tools are used

•Cross analyses of plans, identifying movement and impact including changes to RAG status and highlighting areas of concern to Programme Manager

•Leading on planning capability building and use of best practice across the team

Essential Criteria

Must be able to demonstrate significant experience in using Microsoft Project.

•Use of PowerPoint and/or Excel to present plans

•Proven hands-on planning experience

•Strong understanding of, and identification of critical paths in project plans Behaviours
