Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Technician/Draftsman will work with others to deliver complete engineering solutions including designs, drawings and price lists. They will use their knowledge, diverse skills and best practice to provide sound, sustainable and environmentally sensitive land drainage and flood defence solutions on behalf of all the boards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering, as part of a team, on multidisciplinary projects across the four Consortium boards
  • Setting drawing standards and maintaining drawing registers.
  • Assisting the Engineering team with the preparation and implementation of capital improvement and asset refurbishment projects
  • Preparing engineering drawings, designs and documents for multidisciplinary engineering projects across the Consortium Boards' areas including asset repair and replacements from survey work and design sketches
  • Ensuring that all record drawings are current and reflect any changes made during inspections
  • Assisting and carrying out land level, watercourses and topographical surveys throughout the Consortium's area

Skills and experience:

  • Approved technical qualification in civil engineering or similar discipline
  • Positive and proactive approach to health and safety plus tackling problems
  • Self-motivated
  • A keen interest in land drainage and water level management
  • Effective team working and communication skills
  • Clear understanding and proficient in the use of MS Office based applications, databases, GIS systems, Asset Management systems, CAD (AutoCAD or similar) drafting
  • Full driving license
  • Knowledge/experience with large-scale mechanical and electrical pumping installations
  • Appreciable experience in the preparation of designs and drawings
  • The ability to identify and articulate design risk
