Interested in a career working with Complex Weapons? Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) has the perfect career opportunity for you.

You will work within a team of experienced craftspeople, performing a range of clearly defined and challenging processing operations which can include assembly and disassembly, preparation and testing of complex weapons and their associated support equipment.

Defence Munitions Beith provides a range of Complex Weapon processing, storage, and engineering support functions. This supports the Weapons Operating Centre (WOC) within DE&S and the wider Ministry of Defence (MOD).


Responsibilities
The role involves a range of production and engineering operations to deliver wider set plans that follow controlled processing documentation; ensuring production output targets and aims are achieved to the requisite high quality and safety standards.

You will have opportunities to provide advice on a range of technical solutions, including highly complex issues with a 'continuous improvement' mindset and in line with our organisational goals. This will be in keeping with the relevant statutory and mandatory MoD safety standards to manage the risk generated by operations in an 'As Low as Reasonably Practicable' (ALARP) fashion.

You'll work within a multi-disciplinary team working on a range of equipment so excellent communication skills are essential to achieve the diverse range of goals and objectives in a coherent, timely and effective way. To successfully perform this role, you will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of engineering practices and methodologies at interview.

A medical examination will be required post interview if successful in the role.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
* Recognised Apprenticeship in a relevent engineering discipline at L3 NVQ/SVQ or equivalent within the specialisation

It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
* Experience in a production background
* Strong knowledge of safety legislation and safe working to adhere to and work within relevant Safety Management Systems
* IT literacy and Microsoft Office Experience
* A broad understanding of risk and working within a lean improvement environment
