Junior Systems Engineer

Expired

Job Description:

The defence sector is constantly changing; Defence Equipment & Support need engineers from different backgrounds and disciplines to look ahead to new technologies.

We have several career opportunities available for Junior Systems Engineers within the Land Equipment Operating Centre. The Junior Systems Engineers will provide support to the commercial, quality assurance and technical aspects of the procurement process for a leading portfolio of projects in the Training and Simulation Systems Programme, Land Open Systems Architecture (LOSA) and Land Vehicle programmes.

The training and Simulation Systems Programme provides simulation-based training activity, a virtual games-based technology that is used in operations planning and rehearsal of training scenarios. This includes Roundless Tactical Engagement Simulation that will allow the Army to train using real weapon systems with simulated weapon effects, without the constraint of blank ammunition and safety distances.

LOSA is an open, service-based architecture for systems integration and interoperability in the land domain to deliver coherent force elements. This includes generic vehicle, base, and soldier architecture that is being developed to deliver coherent and agile force elements at readiness to operations. The portfolio of projects will include electronic and power architectures for military vehicles, integrated soldier systems, and base architecture that defines sustainable interfaces to power, data, water, waste, and fuel.

The role allows you to be directly involved with and contribute to the design, selection and integration of Future Soldier Systems and the designs of future Armoured Fighting Platforms and Bases. You will provide technical systems engineering advice and guidance to soldier equipment and integration projects on behalf of LOSA. You will also work closely with Army and TommyWorks in their role as the Soldier Integration Design Authority.

The Land Vehicle programmes procure and provide in-service support for the Army's tracked and wheeled vehicle fleet. This includes the AJAX fully digitised multi-role armoured vehicle which will be at the heart of the STRIKE Brigade Concept, and Boxer, the Army's new all-terrain armoured fighting vehicle.

We want to hear from candidates with an electrical or mechanical engineering background with an interest in the procurement and commercial aspects of taking a product from conception to operation. These roles will provide the successful candidates with an opportunity to work with new, emerging, and future technology, including the integration and enhancing existing systems, for our country's Defence.

If you seek a challenging role with excellent opportunities for development and training, with the chance to make a real difference in supporting our Armed Forces, apply today.

Please note that due to the nature of the projects involved, these roles are reserved for sole UK Nationals only. Some of these positions will be required to undertake DV clearance once in the post.
