Embedded Software Engineer London - Hybrid Stock Options

Profectus have partnered with an innovative AI company on exclusive basis to help them find the perfect Embedded Software Engineer. Their mission is to digitise waste to increase transparency and efficiency in recycling by providing data analytics to sorting centres, packaging producers and regulators. Currently, their camera system and AI software are deployed in recycling plants and waste facilities around the world to measure material flows and provide waste analytics. They have compiled a team of experts to deploy their technology and they're looking to expand their team.

They are enhancing their RGB based vision system with NIR cameras and are looking for an experienced C++ Engineer to fuse and combine data coming from both devices to increase the accuracy of their system. You will work closely with the CTO and be responsible for developing the system connected with the physical device and build components that will elucidate the outcome with their machine learning model with the data from the near infrared system.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and developing low level & high-level components in C++ on Linux that return classifications of items seen by the camera
  • Building & maintaining a CI/CD pipeline that integrates your components with the rest of the system
  • Adopting a pragmatic, scientific approach to experimentation
  • Collaborating with the AI team to fuse the data
  • Interacting with the rest of the engineering team about the way components are integrated
  • Working in an agile environment with two-week sprints

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in C++/Linux/Hardware components (don't have 5+ years' experience? Get in touch for discussion)
  • Demonstrable experience with real-time programming, coming from a computer science, physics or hardware background
  • Familiar with microcontrollers (ideally Atmega/Arduino/Matlab)
  • Capability to solder DIY PCBs
  • Experience in ROS is a plus
  • Passion for addressing the waste crisis or other environmental issues
  • Travel into the office (Westbourne Park, London) at least 2 days a week
