Job Description:

Reporting to the Groundwater Lead, this role will see you providing technical expertise/ support for Environmental & Design team in surface water/groundwater disciplines including data interpretation, visualisation and reporting at both sublot and route wide scales of interest.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the sublot teams to manage surface water/groundwater related construction environmental deliverables and - if occurring - incident / mitigation works.
  • Review and assure deliverables related to the Water and Flood Risk Monitoring Plan & groundwater disciplines in liaison with Sub-lots Environmental Design Engineers
  • Be responsible for the collection and storage of all key water data into a centralised data hub from multiple data sources / sub-contractors / partners

This role will see you accountable for the management, coordination, and assurance of surface water/groundwater compliance during the construction stage (temporary works) plus assurance of surface water/groundwater compliance for the permanent design. This includes review, interpretation and reporting of technical and environmental data.

Personal qualities and experience:

  • Member of an environmental/water professional body
  • A sound understanding of hydrogeology, surface water/ groundwater and dewatering monitoring design on major infrastructure schemes
  • A sound understanding of environmental data management/capture within the water environment including interpretative reporting to stakeholders
  • A proven capability in the delivery of training of colleagues on internal monitoring programmes / auditing of contractors obtaining environmental data
  • Experienced with dealing with Environmental Agency, water companies and LA on such issues
  • Experienced with surface water /groundwater consent applications and pre-engagement with Statutory bodies
  • Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills
