Electrical Engineer

Based in Stansted, this division of a global Aerospace company, are providers of third-party MRO services for their healthy order book consisting of commercial, regional, and general aviation customers as well as military, helicopter, and business jet markets. They are looking for a dynamic and proactive Electrical Engineer to maintain the organisations growth strategy, by developing new capabilities and providing engineering solutions in a diverse and fast-moving environment.

This role requires experience with building and designing test rigs, strong electrical skills, and a developed understanding of gaseous systems, as you would be working across the electrical, compressed gases and safety equipment business units.

Essential Duties

  • Undertake technical evaluation of electrical and electronic aircraft components and associated systems to deliver engineering solutions to the workshop
  • Reverse engineering of electrical testing protocols and component assembly supporting New Product Development (NPD)
  • Design and/or upgrade of electrical test equipment within budget capable of meeting component test specification parameters.
  • Write or work with specialist software writers to improve software code to for greater automation opportunities of electrical components during testing procedures
  • Lead and/or support New Product Development (NPD) projects to deliver on time to budget further electrical component capability for the business
  • Offer technical support, in the event of equipment breakdown and fault-finding support to the maintenance team and shop floor
  • Leverage extensive knowledge to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Focus on continual development and implementation of lean management processes and operational excellence to further enhance workshop efficiencies
  • Adhere to industry standard QA rules and regulations

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Engineering degree – any related discipline (electrical / electronic highly desirable)
  • Good knowledge of safe working practices (e.g. LOTO, working on live equipment) and associated EHS requirements
  • Experience of investigating performance and quality issues using Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies; can anticipate problems before they arise.
  • Understands the importance of following instructions closely, completing compliance documentation accurately and knows when to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Good Knowledge of Inspection and testing electrical installations
  • Good IT skills across MS Office and CAD.
