Job Description:
You will be a key member of the project team and will be responsible for both internal and external communications of the project. It will see you dealing with a wide range of stakeholders, working closely with the client. Alongside this you will be managing a small team.
This is an ideal role for someone who loves a challenge, engaging with stakeholders and enjoy working in fast-paced environments.
The duties include:
- Manage delivery of project communications and community engagement strategies, ensuring appropriate and timely information and content is provided to all stakeholders
- Attend internal project update meetings and external community liaison working groups
- Collaborate with Project/Contract Manager and client stakeholders to implement community investments plans
- Put effective processes in place to manage local investment budgets and maintain written records
- Develop a programme of community relations events and manage the delivery thereof
- Develop and maintain an effective site visit programme and/or information outreach programme, identifying opportunities to showcase expertise, raise profiles and build trust with the local community
- Support the delivery of industry-wide initiatives
- Work closely with UK Communications team and the client to align messaging outputs effectively, manage media activity, talk positively about project successes and ensure brand protection
- Identify potential risks and issues and mitigate through proactive and reactive communication
- Manage delivery of employee engagement activities to reinforce corporate messages, operational process changes and safety-focussed initiatives to drive delivery of project KPI's
- Enhance and protect the reputation of the project and the client through the development and implementation of an effective communications and community engagement strategy
- Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders and have respect to act as a trusted adviser on communications matters
- Embed a 'customer-led' approach and support delivery of project and communication KPIs
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field
- Experience of working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines
- Strong stakeholder management experience
- Team player with ability to influence and negotiate
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of the media
- Experience of delivering informative and engaging presentations to different audiences
- Continually searches for ways to add value and take performance to the next level
- Proactively builds knowledge through sharing ideas and expertise with others
- A clean driving licence and willingness to travel
