Social Sustainability Specialist (Plymouth)

Job Description:

The scope of the projects includes road schemes and bridge works and will see you support projects in meeting their social sustainability targets. You will be involved in supporting projects with engagement, helping with dedicated employment and skills plan plus working with schools, social enterprises, and local community groups.

This role is incredibly important and will see you working on securing apprenticeships, creating and delivery training whilst also developing project Sustainability management plans.

Whilst the majority of the projects are in the Plymouth area, this role will require occasional travel to other projects in the South West region and thus a company car will be provided.

In addition, your duties will include:

  • Lead on the delivery of the project community investment and social sustainability objectives,
  • Creating and delivering training and employment opportunity plans;
  • Engaging in educational activities to deliver social value;
  • Engaging in community activities to deliver social value;
  • Identify suitable awards and opportunities to promote project activities, including the production of case studies and relevant communications.

The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • Ability to influence and promote a positive culture;
  • Understanding of UK policy, regulatory frameworks;
  • Ability to undertake project planning, project management and work to budgets;
  • Understanding and practical experience of project Sustainability and Social Value risks and opportunities and how they practically impact on the 'built environment';
  • Programme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documenting progress through KPI monitoring and performance reporting;
  • Practical experience of Sustainability in a construction environment;
  • Ability to articulate to and influence key stakeholders on how sustainability practically impacts on clients, suppliers, communities and stakeholders;
  • Experience of managing and analysing sustainability data.
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

  • Additional relevant skills and qualifications in any technical area;
  • Experience of working on multiple projects;
  • Stakeholder management experience.
