The Job

We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of embedded software in the control system for our fuel cell products. You will be responsible for development of software functionality that will be crucial to the success of our fuel cell products. You'll collaborate with talented Electronics and Product Systems teams to deliver core functionality to control and manage fuel cells. You will innovate enabling new product features against our road maps. You care about reliability and performance and you will use your experience to develop elegant solutions to complex problems.

Primary Accountabilities

Strong experience in software development lifecycle - design, development, documentation and testing of embedded software in C or C++. Development using Agile/Scrum methodologies. Best practice of unit testing and continuous deployment.

  • Able to understand electronic designs - digital logic, microprocessor architectures, interfaces such as ADC, DAC, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, etc.
  • Implementation of control, control algorithms, and digital signal processing.
  • Develop highly reliable or deterministic embedded software, capable of running in a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) environment.
  • Knowledge of networking and IOT communications - TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT, encryption, compression.
  • Mentoring of more junior software engineers to build the team capability.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A first-class degree or upper 2nd in a related engineering subject or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience of developing embedded software.
  • Proficiency development & debugging in C / C++ or equivalent programming languages.
  • Experience in development with microcontrollers - preferably PIC and STM32.
  • Good understanding of electronics schematics and apply working knowledge to facilitate in bring-up and debugging PCBs. Familiar with using test equipment such as oscilloscopes etc.
  • Ability to understand system-wide implications of electronic design and software integration.
  • Proficient understanding of development tools such as git, GitHub, CI/CD tools.
  • Good understanding of Linux and scripting.
  • Experience in Qt Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) would be desirable.
  • Experience coding to MISRA, DO, IEC-61508, Functional Safety, SIL, etc. standards would be desirable.
