Lamonby Recruitment have an exciting new opportunity for a Lead Control Systems Engineer to join our client, a leading automation system integrator based on the outskirts of Portsmouth. The company focuses on delivering complete electrical, control and automation solutions to their customers across a whole host of different industries.
The role is to take technical lead of designated projects from inception to completion, ensuring that each of the projects is in conformance with customer requirements as well as company’s specifications, relevant regulatory codes, and good engineering practice. Working in conjunction with the Project Manager, your contribution will ensure that all contractual milestones are met in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our expectation is that you provide technical direction to the project team and play an active role as the technical lead liaising with customers and suppliers.
In return, the successful Lead Control Systems Engineer will receive a starting salary between £47,000 - £52,000 (dependent upon experience), a monthly profit bonus share, company shares and 25 days holiday.
Leed Control Systems Engineer Role
Enjoy the whole life cycle of delivering projects, from start to finish.
Interface with customers and suppliers.
Experience of generating design requirements from client's brief.
Produce the design documents.
Compile the PLC, HMI and SCADA software.
Systems integration of hardware and software
Write the test documents.
Review P&ID and Cause & Effect diagrams
Review electrical schematics
Be able to produce and review specifications for control hardware and instrumentation devices
Perform testing with customers
Prepare Risk assessments and Method Statements
Carryout on-site commissioning
Travel to customers and suppliers’ sites for meetings, site surveys, equipment inspections, etc., when required
Lead projects and mentor engineers to greater things
Carry out technical reviews of control systems hardware and software design concepts for safety-related systems
ATEX assessment methodology and application
Be able to carry out SIL verification calculations and evaluate the results
Ensure design compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation as well as the
requirements of IEC61508/61511
Provide technical leadership on safety-related projects
Role Requirements and Qualifications
High level of experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or Wonderware (InTouch and/or System Platform), based SCADA platforms, and HMIs.
High level of experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider or Mitsubishi PLC platforms.
Ability to read, understand and review control loop drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
Familiar with the implementation of IEC61508/61511 standards in the design of industrial control systems
Understanding of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability concepts in the context of control and electrical systems • Knowledge of Process control systems and alarm management
FS Eng (TUV Rheinland) certification desired
Would be great but not essential to have good understanding of setting up, commissioning, and fault finding of industrial networks (DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet)
5+ years’ experience of writing software and working with customers.
Be capable of demonstrating a structured approach to justifying key engineering decisions.
