My client is a rolling stock maintainer who are on the verge on serious expansion seeking an experience Senior Buyer who is confident in an Engineering Environment.

Main duties for the appointed Senior Buyer will be:

• Technical procurement in an engineering manufacture or service and overhaul environment
• Manage supply chain costs and delivery, develop a system for supplier performance, KPIs etc. Negotiate purchase agreements with existing suppliers and identify new suppliers
• Sourcing parts from engineering drawings as well as working closely with the engineers on Engineering change notes.
• Create and analysis BOMs to understand key requirements
• Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities within the business
• Manage stock control within the business

Experience and skills needed to be the successful Senior Buyer:

• Experience with PADSNET would be ideal but not essential
• Excellent Excel experience (V-Lookups & Pivot tables)
• Proven experience purchasing in an engineering environment sourcing from engineering drawings
• Experience with ERP systems (SAGE 200, MS Dynamics Nav, WinMan, SAP)
• Understand technical drawings, schematics and Bills of Materials
• Effective verbal and written communication skills Knowledge and direct experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with contract manufacturers and suppliers within a diverse supply chain and managing short lead times
• Good interpersonal skills, teamwork, hands on well organised approach  
• A track record of effectively analysing and problem solving in a fast-paced environment
