Role: Senior Project Engineer

Salary: £36,000 - £45,000 DOE

Term: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a rapidly growing, ambitious space company concerned with the engineering and manufacture of battery cells. Summary of the Senior Project Engineer role:

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for a team of Junior and Project Engineers who provide technical assessment, analysis and data review for space projects throughout the project lifecycle.

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the assignment of tasks to direct reports, providing oversight of the technical solutions, and functions as the senior technical representative to the customer for critical project discussions

Responsibilities of the Senior Project Engineer:

• Ensuring the safety of all employees, workers, visitors and hardware of the company
• Ensuring on time and on quality technical solutions delivered directly to the customers
• The role directly represents the company in customer meetings and reviews
• Accountable for schedule adherence of technical tasks on their own projects, and for direct reports
• Supporting the allocation of work across the department
• Defining technical work packages
• Timely technical review of project documentation prior to formal release
• Analysing test reports
• Reviewing documentation and dealing with non-conformances
• Cost reduction and improvement strategy and implementation projects agreed with the Engineering Manager
• Supporting departmental purchasing requests, however is not directly responsible for cost or expenditure, which is handled by the Project Manager in cost control.

About you:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar STEM subject (must have)
• Experience in a relevant role in space, aerospace, automotive or defence sectors. (desired)
• High level of IT skills for data analysis, modelling, results presentation and reporting (must have)
• Experience working to tight deadlines (must have)
• Excellent written and verbal communication (must have)
• Understanding of ECSS standards (desired)
• Experience working within a customer facing role (must have)
• Familiarity with Hazard analysis and FMECA
• Experience in any of the following:

Vibration/shock testing

Mechanical design and analysis

Thermal design and analysis

Spacecraft power systems

Battery management systems
