Manchester’s most successful inward investment agency, is seeking a new Head of Business Development – Life Sciences and Healthcare sector.
Do you have a background in Inward Investment or International Trade?
The position will lead the business development team for the Life Sciences and healthcare sector, driving the attraction of life sciences and health care businesses to Greater Manchester (GM) and the expansion of existing Greater Manchester businesses to deliver new investment and job creation.
Do you want to make a difference and play a part in growing Greater Manchester’s economy?
They are looking to recruit a dynamic Head of Business Development within the Life Sciences sector, with a proven track record in inward investment and overseas marketing. As one of the Senior Managers you will take full ownership of the Sector – developing and implementing the strategy for company engagement and project management to deliver Foreign Direct Investment successes in the City Region.
Key Duties and Requirements
  • Experience of inward invest or international trade
  • Knowledge of funded programmes that bring invest to the UK
  • Develop a formal business development strategy for the life sciences and healthcare sector in Greater Manchester, working closely with Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) to deliver a co-ordinated approach.
  • Achieve an annual target of inward investment project successes and associated job creation targets, for both new direct investment and expansions within GM, with a specific focus on foreign direct investment, R&D and high-value investment.
  • Identify and focus on a target list of national and international companies, developing and building long-term strategic relationships with key-decision makers, typically at C-level, within a range of global and fast-growing businesses, adopting a consultative sales approach to raise profile, create and identify opportunities for new investment.
  • Develop a strategic business development campaign, with support from the marketing team, to promote GM’s life sciences and healthcare offer, with both an international market and sub-sector focus to raise the city region’s profile and deliver a pipeline of high quality leads that delivers the inward investment success targets.
  • Persuasive and credible communicator with well-developed negotiating and presentation skills.
