Job description

A growth opportunity within our Security and Information Management (S&IM) team, providing operational delivery services to support provisions in: - 

Information Management, Data Protection, Cyber & Information Security, Incident Management and Business Continuity. 

Driving Operational Delivery and embedding change while using Analytics.

Orchestrating data capability development along with its robust plans, analysing data, building their reports. All to ensure the business is focused in reducing risks and driving our bigger picture. 

Being a small geographically dispersed team, we would look for someone who is comfortable working independently and enjoys bringing people together.  

 Who will bring their knowledge and experience of:  

  • Project/Programme Management, data reporting (e.g., Power BI, Excel) to assist us in uplifting services and creating efficiencies.  
  • Driving evolution and flexibility. To lead on changing priorities whilst working to develop processes to streamline work and implement continuous improvements. 
  • Supporting the Head of Operational Delivery with innovation and improvement activities while collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.  
  • Develop and drive high quality, dynamic data driven reporting. Being a self-starter, meticulous, data driven, flexible individual, who enjoys being hands-on while looking to expand on their own skills. 
  • Empowering your colleagues’ skills and sharing their knowledge in a changing and expansive business. Inspiring others across various locations, including senior colleagues.

When joining us, all candidates must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting at Security Check (SC) clearance level for this vacancy, should it be required later.

Person specification

As Operational Delivery Lead - (Security, Information Management and Data) experience will focus on:  

  • Delivery and implementing effective plans in a fast-paced environment, driving daring and emerging improvement programmes in the field of information security, data compliance, incident and business continuity in operations – establishing effective reporting with a data-led focus and encouraging innovation to reduce risk. 
  • Delivering, developing and leading. A self-motivated leader who drives the development and implementation of operational initiatives, demonstrating hands-on expertise and agile project management skills. Oversees strategic planning, monitors progress, and ensures our work increase outcomes. Coordinates business planning, commissions, and supervises operational expenditures.  
  • Delivering quality Management Information (MI) and Monitoring Analysis and Statistics. Identifying appropriate metrics to build useful/factual dashboards and dynamic reporting, which drive data led decision-making and utilising tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI), further enhancing data through effective user experience (UX), designing and developing Key Performance Indicators (KPI). 
  • A versatile and effective communicator orchestrating culture change, strategy development, commissions and operational work through engaging campaigns and effective channel utilisation. Cultivate strong colleague relationships, driving improvements and handling RAID (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies) factors to optimise service delivery. 
  • Learn and adapt by showing a willingness to be flexible to new opportunities, commitments and demands of HMRC, providing deputy cover, in our evolving team and working in a fast-paced/changing environment.

  Essential Criteria 

Being Qualified either in an Academic or Professional qualification in either:

  • Academic:Graduate or a postgraduate qualification in information technology, information security, cyber, engineering, data science, statistics, project/programme management or a related subject. 
  • Professional: ITIL, Agile Practitioner, Prince 2 Practitioner, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner, APMG Change Management Practitioner, Prosci Change Management Practitioner or equivalent. 

The ability to demonstrate deliveries in one of the following areas: - 

Information security, data protection, IT/cloud infrastructure, DevOps, big data, business continuity/resilience, incident response or equivalent. 

  • Waterfall and or Agile Project delivery experience where evidence of embedding quality products,  services, processes and business improvements are shown.  
  • An excellent communicator, with strong written ability, meticulous and with attention to detail. Building trusting and effective Stakeholder working relationships providing that hands on experience. Communicating clearly and concisely with experience of briefing senior using visual aids.
  • Developing service delivery artefacts e.g., project plans, business cases, benefits realisation plans, roadmaps and RAID logs. Able to demonstrate iterative and continuous development approach.  
  • Ability to shape sophisticated data from varied sources into effective reporting, with a proven understanding and use of tools - developing and generating management information (MI) data/statistics (e.g., using analytical tools such as Power BI and Tableau, etc).  

Desirable Criteria  

  • Experience of embedding emerging technologies (e.g., cloud services, access controls, data analytics, machine learning and predictive analytics etc).
