Due to an extended period of exponential growth, we are looking for a principal design engineer to join our team and take leadership of significant projects for the business.

About The Principal Design Engineer Role

You will be responsible for developing and overseeing the design process on major projects and contributing mechanically to design work across the business.

The Principal Design Engineer will be responsible for:

• Conceptualize 3D design models.
• Supervise design engineers creating CAD detail drawings for project execution.
• Guide design engineers in producing assembly drawings for project execution.
• Generate preliminary CAD designs for sales and marketing purposes.
• Create design calculations to facilitate product standardization.
• Utilize QHE configuration system for drawing generation and maintenance.
• Perform design Risk Assessments (HAZOP, FEMA, etc.) when required.
• Manage project execution for all opportunities and purchase order transactions.
• Translate quotes into clear technical specifications and deliverables.
• Plan resources effectively to meet project goals and ensure adequate project staffing.
• Identify and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Manage updates to standards and inform about new legislation affecting products.
• Participate in process enhancement initiatives.
• Perform tasks in alignment with QHE QMS.
• Fulfil other duties related to the company's operations as required.

A successful Principal Design Engineer will need:

• Proficiency in chemical processes.
• Proficient in client management within technical and commercial settings.
• Expertise in standard regulations (e.g., CE Marking, risk assessments) for systems and mechanics.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Inventor 3D, or similar design software.
• Comfortable with on-site work in the UK and internationally.
