Step Teachers are looking for a Philosophy Teacher for long-term role in our partner school starting April 2024. 

As a Philosophy Teacher, you will inspire and engage students in the exploration of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, ethics, and the nature of reality. Your role will involve designing and delivering stimulating lessons that encourage students to think critically, articulate their ideas effectively, and develop a deep appreciation for philosophical inquiry. You will foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to question, analyze, and debate various philosophical concepts.

Key Responsibilities of a Philosophy Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that cater to students of varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Create a dynamic curriculum that covers a range of philosophical topics and encourages independent thought.
  • Facilitate meaningful discussions and debates that encourage students to articulate their ideas coherently and respectfully engage with differing viewpoints.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to students to help them develop their critical thinking skills and academic potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the wider academic and extracurricular life of the school community.
  • Stay updated with developments in the field of philosophy and integrate relevant insights into your teaching practice.

Qualifications and Requirements of a Philosophy Teacher:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Philosophy or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • Proven experience teaching Philosophy at the secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for philosophical inquiry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to excel academically.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community through extracurricular activities and initiatives.
