Contract CAD Engineer - Mechanical

Duration:         6-month rolling contract

Contract opportunity for a CAD Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to work with the R&D/ Engineering team on a key new project, supporting a next generation product.

As Mechanical Engineer / CAD Engineer / CAD Technician you will use both your 2D and 3D CAD skills to support the development of cost effective and sustainable designs for key customers.

As such, you will need a working knowledge of CAD software, proven MS Excel skills along with an excellent problem-solving mind-set.

To support the project, you will need to:

• Be able to understand and interpret engineering drawings using Inventor / AutoDesk Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software)

• Work with multi-disciplined teams, Mechanical Designers alongside Production Engineering  to understand and collate requirements and ensure products are designed for Manufacture
• Use 3D CAD for management of drawings, models & documents
• Undertake modifications to existing drawings
• Support the creation of engineering change requests/notes
• Support with undertaking tolerance analysis of components / assemblies
• Be part of design reviews, and present working drawings to support the manufacture of the product

Skill required as CAD Engineer:

• Industry experience as a Mechanical Engineer / CAD Engineer, Draftsperson or CAD Technician or similar engineering role
• Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD, ideally Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Catia or similar 3D package  
• Have an understanding of Engineering system design principles.
