MPI require a permanent Project Engineer, for our client based in Kempston, Bedford

Permanent role

Starting  depending on experience

Monday to Friday, Car allowance

The client is a specialist water and wastewater process technology and mechanical services company that deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve water supply and wastewater treatment works. Individual projects vary from small refurbishments to complete turnkey solutions, ranging in value from £100K up to £4M.

 

Key Responsibilities

Material take off’s from fabrication drawings, site GA’s, valve & instrument schedules and standard specifications.
Responsible for tendering packages, obtaining quotation and raising Purchase Orders for items with suppliers as for project expenditure as required by Project Managers.
To visit sites as required to assess job requirements.
Assist Project Managers in preparation of H&S documentation including but not limited to the following:

Risk Assessments / Method Statements, Construction Phase Plans, Traffic Management Plans, Site H&S files, Permits to Work,HASWA compliance, CDM compliance.
Ensuring all project records are up to date and available within project files.

Following up the order status for delivering material to the site to support the production schedule, manufacturing lead times and site activities.

Developing a detailed working knowledge of all standard products.

Support commercial manager with forecasting and contract administration.

Any other reasonable duties as required

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • At least 2 years' experience in a mechanical engineering / workshop environment.
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, site GA's, valve & instrument schedules and standard specifications.
  • Strong negotiation skills and strategic approach in managing national and local suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently, display initiative and solve problems with proficiency

 

Decision Making Authority

  • Manages own time to achieve above objectives.
  • Purchasing within agreed limits as directed by Project Managers and the Senior Management Team.
  • Undertake any activities responsibly as instructed by or agreed by Directors.
  • Project management within and adhering to the standards set by the Senior Management Team.
