The Role

The school are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting young children or adults with special educational needs. You must be confident and be able to engage and proactively support pupils with alternative communication methods. You will be joining a large team to support pupils with a wide range of complex needs and learning difficulties needs. Within the class you will be based in, some of the pupils demonstrate challenging behaviour and you should be confident in managing and be able to support in helping pupils to become calm. You will be supporting children on a 1:1 and group basis within the classroom and around the School.

The School

The School is co educational and caters for up to 95 children and young adults from 7-19.

Students follow a streamed curriculum throughout the school: on entry they are designated to a group according to their specific needs, within their key stage.  These groupings take account of their abilities and social and emotional needs. Younger students follow a primary model with most lessons being taught by the class teacher and support staff. The school works in partnership with families to support students to develop their communication skills, be independent and support their all-round mental emotional and physical development.
