CAD Designer
Are you an experienced CAD Designer with a strong background in electro-mechanical engineering? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic Custom Products team as an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer Draftsperson.
The Role:
This position is integral to the design and drafting of custom electro-mechanical projects. Collaborating closely with Project Engineers and Managers, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing custom products using CAD software.
- Preparing schemes, proposals, and layouts as part of the drafting process.
- Producing electrical circuit diagrams and adhering to industry and drawing office standards.
- Liaising with suppliers to clarify design requirements and ensuring compliance with project needs.
- Modifying and revising existing designs as required.
Key Skills and Competencies of the CAD Designer:
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (2D & 3D).
- Sound knowledge of technical drawing principles, geometric tolerancing, and relevant engineering standards (e.g., BS308).
- Analytical judgment with the ability to conduct basic engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (desirable).
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs.
- Proven ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.
- A mechanical engineering background with a focus on electro-mechanical products.
Qualifications and Experience of the CAD Designer:
- HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in precision electro-mechanical design and drafting.
- Familiarity with a range of materials and manufacturing processes (desirable).
