Technical Director
Reading, Berkshire
Up to £880 a day Outside IR35
We are looking to recruit a Technical Director, who will be responsible for directing the laboratory through chemical manufacturing processes, this will include the design and development of processes, instruments and equipment.
Additional responsibility for the identification, deployment and governance of chemical information technologies needed to support a variety of development processes, as well as aiding further technology initiatives.
Responsibilities of the Technical Director:
- Take the lead on project activity by coordinating and reporting as required.
- Promote the resource planning process by leading the allocation and planning of meetings.
- Enact best practices to consolidate the IT PMO processes.
- Ensure the effective delivery of projects by providing expertise to the team.
- Take a proactive approach to identify potential risks on programs and projects.
- Work on Continuous Improvement projects, utilising information from project data.
- Assess, note and mitigate both risks and dependencies against project deliverables including budget and quality.
- Oversee a variety of requirements in the pilot plant, including the supplies, equipment, manpower, materials and supplies.
- Make recommendations to augment productivity, quality and efficiency.
- Be the leader around process development and validation.
- Take responsibility for writing technical summaries and process reports, whilst reviewing and approving compliance documents such as SOPs and validation protocols.
- Make sure staff have the sufficient training, whilst ensuring all records are maintained.
- Provide feedback to direct reports, offering training and development where needed.
What we are looking for in the Technical Director:
- Experience across technology evaluation, deployment and project management.
- A relevant qualification in IT or Engineering.
- Experience within the chemical or material industry.
- Excellent written and verbal skills are key, with the ability to work collaboratively to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Be able to effectively plan and manage a variety of complex projects.
- A good understanding of change control and system validation process.
- A demonstrated experience of managing a variety of stakeholders and reports.
- Excellent people leadership skills, with the ability to train and develop talent.
- A forward-thinking approach, with a sustainable vision to define strategies and objectives.
