Step Teachers are working with an FE provider in Plymouth who are looking for an Employability Teacher to start as soon as possible for a role that will be temporary initially with the view to becoming permanent in the future. This Employability Teacher role will involve managing your time and lesson to provide a high quality education for the students. 

This alternative provision college has a rating of 'Good' under the former Ofsted ratings for schools and is a very community focused education provider. The position is at an alternative provision college catering to Post-16 learners as well as the wider community.

Employability Teacher Role:

  • Assess learners' needs, set targets, and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and offer information to help inform Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons (virtual and face-to-face) embedding math, English, and ICT.
  • Develop tailored teaching resources for various curriculum levels (Vocational, GCSE, T-Level).
  • Provide pastoral support and maintain positive relationships with learners, parents, and carers.
  • Support learners with SEND, updating EHCPs and ensuring reasonable adjustments for assessments.
  • Promote services at events and develop work experience and progression opportunities with employers.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (Ofsted, MATRIX, RARPA) and mentor staff in documentation and administration.
  • Travel as needed to support centres and community-based delivery.

Employability Teacher Role:

  • Hold a PGCE, DTLL's or Level 5 Further Education Teaching Qualification
  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEND
  • Ability to adapt lessons and the delivery to tailor to each individual learner
