Controls Engineer.
London.
Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE).
Monday to Friday 07:00 – 15:30

We are looking to recruit an experienced Controls Engineer to work for a well established client of ours who are a specialised baker of pastries and savoury products.
Duties of the Controls Engineer:
- Modify or initiate work arounds on the PLC code for any hardware faults.
- Use relevant diagnostic tools to provide investigations into front line issues.
- Document SOPs, keeping records accurate and up to date.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, layout drawings, wiring diagrams, wire harnesses and BOMs for electrical panels.
- Analyse the data to find solutions to help improve the MHE performance.
- Make sure that there are correct backups, upgrades and spares by cataloguing all existing site control systems.
- Liaise with and report to the management team on causes of failures, making recommendations to rectify.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the maintenance team.
- Generate a variety of technical documentation including P&IDs, software design specifications, communication maps and cable block diagrams.
What we are looking for in the Controls Engineer:
- A relevant engineering degree.
- Previous experience within a similar role, ideally in an automation environment.
- Experienced hands on ability relating to automation hardware and software.
- The ability to optimise processes to lower manufacturing costs, increase productivity and reduce cycle times.
- Excellent knowledge of Siemens HMI systems, matched with a good understanding of PLC control system architecture.
- A keen eye for detail with good problem solving ability.
- Experience working on continuous improvement projects.
