Construction Clerk of Works – Newton Aycliffe
Overview
Our clients are currently seeking a Construction Clerk of Works to join their growing team, covering nationwide projects and working from the Newton Aycliffe office.
This position would be perfect for a candidate who has previously worked as a Clerk of Works on commercial refurbishment/ fit-out projects for a main contractor.

This position comes as part of their natural growth and will work closely with the project director to ensure delivery of projects always have a strong quality focus.
The successful candidate must be located within commutable distance to the Newton Aycliffe office and be willing to travel regularly, sometimes requiring overnight stays at distant project sites (Fully expensed). The person will be comfortable operating a fluid and flexible diary, with no two weeks likely to be the same so there is lots of variety within this position!
Successful applicants will meet the following criteria:
Role & Responsibilities
- Carry out Clerk of Works services on a range of construction projects, predominantly commercial refurb/ fit out projects.
- Act as the principal point of contact with the project client, in respect of construction quality
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery of Clerk of Works services on all projects
- Report writing following site inspection
- Work to the Quality Management System in the delivery of all services
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or Quality Manager
- Main contractor construction background, preferably in commercial building/ refurb projects.
- Demonstrate a wide an understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods and relevant regulations / legislation
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in identifying defects, snags and general construction quality from foundation through to final snagging
- Excellent at communicating to contractors, sub-contractors, internal team members and clients
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
