Job Description:
SEMH Teacher for Alternative Provision School (Year 5/6 Class)
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you thrive in a supportive, dynamic environment where no two days are the same? If so, we have the perfect role for you!
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join an Alternative Provision setting, working with a Year 5/6 class. This long-term role offers you the chance to positively impact young learners who need it most.
The alternative provision school offers tailored educational support for children and young people who find mainstream education unsuitable for their needs. These schools provide a nurturing and flexible environment, addressing specific challenges such as behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties. Additionally, these schools play a crucial role in preparing young people for a smooth transition and re-engagement back into mainstream schooling.
What We’re Looking For:
- A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with experience in supporting SEMH needs.
- Proven ability to manage and engage small groups of students with diverse needs.
- Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing, empathetic approach.
- A commitment to tailoring learning experiences to meet individual needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver creative, engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work closely with support staff and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Monitor and assess progress, celebrating achievements and addressing challenges.
- Inspire resilience and confidence in students, preparing them for future success.
