Job Description:
Are you the master of industrial automation, fluent in Siemens TIA Portal and Allen Bradley Studio 5000? Can you troubleshoot PLC systems before your second coffee? If you’re ready to take the lead on exciting projects while mentoring a team of talented engineers, we’ve got the perfect role for you.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Lead Controls Engineer to head up critical industrial automation projects. You’ll design, develop, and commission cutting-edge systems while mentoring and inspiring a team of young, ambitious engineers to reach their full potential.
This is your chance to step up as a player-manager – think Kenny Dalglish, but instead of managing strikers, you’ll be coaching some of the brightest minds in controls engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing bespoke software solutions for industrial systems – from conveyor controls to safety systems.
- Leading by example, mentoring a team of junior engineers, and creating a collaborative environment that fosters growth and innovation.
- Developing HMI screens and managing industrial communication protocols like Profinet, Ethernet, and Profibus.
- Overseeing on-site commissioning (around 50% travel) while ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Acting as second-line support for troubleshooting and diagnostics, becoming the go-to expert for your team.
What We’re Looking For
- Expertise: Solid experience with Siemens TIA Portal or Allen Bradley Studio 5000.
- Technical Skills: Advanced understanding of PLC programming (ladder logic, STL, SCL) and HMI development.
- Leadership Skills: A natural leader who thrives on coaching and empowering junior team members.
- Hands-On Experience: Familiarity with safety controllers, drive configuration, and on-site commissioning.
- Communication: Excellent technical reporting and interpersonal skills – your team and clients will value your clarity.
What’s in It for You
- Leadership Opportunity: Take charge of your own team and shape the future of industrial automation.
- Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a mix of office and on-site work, with travel managed fairly and all expenses covered.
- Career Development: Access to training and opportunities to sharpen your skills.
- Supportive Team: Join a collaborative environment where your ideas and expertise are valued.
Who You Are
You’re a strong player-manager who excels at juggling technical challenges with team mentorship. Whether it’s debugging code, leading on-site commissioning, or guiding a junior engineer through their first major project, you bring confidence, expertise, and a knack for getting things done.
Ready to lead a team, take on exciting challenges, and build the future of industrial automation? Apply now and let’s make it happen!
