Job Description:
Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their caring and committed team at a prestigious school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to make a positive difference in the lives of students with additional needs. This role begins March 2025.
Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support students with a variety of special educational needs
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential
- Assist with the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) for students with SEN
- Support students with physical, emotional, and behavioural needs in the classroom and during extracurricular activities
- Help to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported
- Encourage students to develop their social skills, independence, and confidence
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Has a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs
- Has experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school environment
- Is patient, empathetic, and understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
- Is flexible, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Holds relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience
