Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support students with a variety of special educational needs
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential
• Assist with the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) for students with SEN
• Support students with physical, emotional, and behavioural needs in the classroom and during extracurricular activities
• Help to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported
• Encourage students to develop their social skills, independence, and confidence
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Has a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs
• Has experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school environment
• Is patient, empathetic, and understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs
• Has good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
• Is flexible, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Holds relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience
