Full-Time 12-Month Fixed Term Mon-Thu 8:30-5, Fri 8:30-4:30
We’re hiring a Payroll and Finance Specialist to join our client's finance team in a manufacturing environment. You’ll lead accurate payroll processing (from manual to digital systems), support HR with payroll queries, and contribute to month-end financials and reporting.
Payroll Processing
- Review and process monthly payroll data for salaried employees, including accurate submissions to the Payroll Bureau, HMRC, pension providers, and other relevant bodies.
- Calculate and apply adjustments for holiday pay, sick leave, pensions, benefits-in-kind, EV salary sacrifice schemes, and other payroll-related items.
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll queries in collaboration with the HR team.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection regulations regarding all payroll information.
HR Data Support
- Collect, analyse, and interpret HR data such as headcount, performance metrics, and compensation trends.
- Prepare clear and concise reports for HR and senior leadership using tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Finance Support
- Reconcile and post payroll journals to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Assist in month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
- Generate payroll summaries and reports for internal stakeholders and external bodies, including monthly Staff Reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, both digital and physical, including balance sheet management and reconciliation of payroll control accounts.
- Distribute payroll-related data for capital projects and intercompany recharges.
- Partner with departmental managers to develop the annual manpower budget and monitor ongoing expenditure against the approved budget, providing financial guidance as needed.
- Undertake any additional duties as reasonably requested by the UK&I Head of Finance.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all payroll activities adhere to HMRC regulations and statutory requirements.
- Manage the payroll year-end audit process, including liaising with auditors to address and resolve any queries.
What you’ll need:
- Strong UK payroll experience
- Manual Payroll experience
- Confident with Excel and Sage (or similar systems)
- Solid knowledge of UK payroll law
- High attention to detail and discretion
- CIPP/AAT or similar (preferred)
