Principal Application Developer - Hybrid 

We are looking for a Principal Application Developer with the ability to write efficient code in both PHP and Python for a scaling Telco business. This role is hybrid with the need for someone to be in the West Midlands office 3 days a week. You will take on a key position in leading a new release team as well as collaborating closely with the Architecture team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across the platform.
• Design scalable, resilient software solutions using PHP and Python.
• Mentor and coach junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architecture, operations, QA, and external system providers.
• Drive innovation by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies.
• Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation.

Requirements: 

• Strong experience in PHP, Python, microservices, and event-driven architecture (e.g., Apache Kafka).
• Familiarity with frameworks like Laravel and design patterns such as MVC.
• Proven leadership in software development and mentoring.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Experience with tools like Git, PHPUnit, PyTest, and static analysis tools is a plus.
