Title: Controls Engineer
Location: West London
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE).
Shift: Monday to Friday 07:00 – 15:30

We're looking for a Controls Engineer to join a high-performing team at a fast-paced, technology-driven facility operating around the clock. If you thrive on finding smart fixes and long-term solutions to technical issues in a dynamic environment, this role could be for you.

Controls Engineer Role:

  • Rapidly diagnose and resolve live control system issues both hardware and software to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Apply your technical skills to modify PLC code, activate workarounds, and carry out temporary fixes as needed.
  • Use tools like Profibus, CAN Bus, and barcode systems to dig into problems and uncover the root causes.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and drive permanent solutions with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Support critical automated systems including servo-motion, robotics, conveyors, packaging, and labelling equipment.
  • Maintain and document detailed schematics, layout drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Own control system architecture, communication protocols, and system upgrades including backups, spares, and obsolescence strategies.
  • Coordinate SAT/FAT processes and ensure regulatory and quality compliance at all times.
  • Play a lead role in cross-functional technical projects to boost reliability and performance across the operation.


Controls Engineer Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with PLCs such as Siemens TIA Portal, Simatic Manager and HMI systems.
  • A solid understanding of servo systems, VFDs, DC motor control, and field control devices.
  • Analytical mindset with an eye for detail and a pragmatic approach to complex problems.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards, ATEX environments, and electrical permitting systems.
  • Confident using CMMS platforms and MS Office tools for reporting and documentation.
  • Ideally experience in distribution, production, or FMCG environments.
  • An understanding of control system communications like Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or similar.
