SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary role starting as soon as possibleThis is a rewarding opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in an Alternative Provision setting, both on-site and through outreach. Staff work collaboratively to ensure high standards of teaching and pastoral care, with a strong focus on individual progress and emotional well-being.Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
• Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions
• Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing coping strategies
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external agencies
• Participate in outreach work to support pupils in alternative settings
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment

Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
• Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
• Relevant qualifications in education, child development or support work are desirable
