Job Description:
SEMH Teaching Assistant – Day-to-day supply from November 2025 These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEMH Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. SEMH experience is essential, and roles are available for immediate start.Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs in mainstream and specialist settings
- Build positive relationships and provide consistent emotional support
- Assist with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individual support plans
- Encourage pupil engagement and participation in learning activities
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies consistently
- Has proven experience supporting children with SEMH needs
- Demonstrates resilience, empathy and a calm approach to challenging behaviour
- Is confident working 1:1 and in small groups
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Holds relevant training or qualifications (e.g. Team Teach, Step On, CACHE Level 2/3)
- Is committed to promoting pupil well-being and progress
