Lift & Escalators Service Engineer

A leading UK lift and escalator specialist is strengthening its engineering team across the North West and Scotland. This organisation is known for technical expertise, safety leadership, and long-standing industry reputation.
This role ensures the safe, reliable operation of lift and escalator equipment across multi-unit sites. You’ll carry out maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and equipment improvements that help reduce downtime and enhance performance.
What you’ll do:
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and minor repairs on lift and escalator equipment.
- Diagnose faults, respond to breakdowns, and restore equipment to service.
- Test and check lift/escalator functions including speed, load, noise, temperature, and power supply.
- Complete routine adjustments and reinstate equipment using approved procedures.
- Produce accurate service documentation across all assigned sites.
- Perform advanced diagnostics using technical manuals and test equipment, including third-party interfaces.
- Conduct site surveys and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through training.
- Work in line with all safety, environmental, and quality policies.
- Support company safety objectives by monitoring systems and implementing agreed changes.
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours maintenance and repairs.
- Provide mentoring and support to less experienced fitters when required.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in lift and/or escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs (preferred).
- NVQ Level 3 in Lift/Escalator Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills across multiple brands.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and confident technical reporting.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
- Good communication skills with clients, supervisors, and inspectors.
- Manual dexterity and confidence using hand and power tools.
- Full UK driving licence.
