Head of Bid Writing
Hybrid / Greater Manchester
Up to £65,000 
Full-time, Permanent
The Role:

This role leads the quality and consistency of written submissions across key public sector markets, including Employment, Justice, Health and Business Support. You will produce high-quality responses, oversee storyboarding and reviews, and guide colleagues to deliver clear, compliant and competitive bids. Significant experience managing and writing bids in these sectors is essential.
Duties:

  • Produce high-quality written responses and coordinate contributions to deliver winning bids.
  • Lead and support submissions across Employment, Justice, Health and Business Support.
  • Oversee and sign off storyboards, drafts and final responses.
  • Manage and challenge content to improve quality and scoring potential.
  • Provide oversight on strategically important bids through all stages.
  • Coordinate project teams to deliver timely, high-standard submissions.
  • Act as a review and sign-off point for accuracy, structure and compliance.
  • Lead or support frameworks, EOIs, PSQs and ITTs, including research and drafting.
  • Work with colleagues to shape innovative and competitive written responses.
  • Use feedback to drive continuous improvement in bid writing.
  • Deliver training and maintain bid templates and best practice resources.
  • Use available tools, including AI, to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor market intelligence to identify upcoming opportunities.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience managing and writing bids for Employment, Justice, Health and Business Support.
  • Strong written communication skills and a record of producing successful bids.
  • Confident leading storyboarding, drafting, editing and final reviews.
  • Effective project management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical capability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with tendering portals.
