Job Description:
We are recruiting an experienced Engineering Manager to join the Innovation & NPD function of a well-established engineering business delivering bespoke machinery and automated solutions to major blue-chip clients.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an Engineering Manager who enjoys combining hands-on technical oversight with team leadership, playing a key role in the delivery of innovative products from concept through to manufacture.
The Role as an Engineering Manager:As Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of engineering design projects, ensuring technical excellence, commercial awareness, and on-time delivery. You will lead and develop a team of engineers while working closely with cross-functional teams to bring new products and improvements to market.
Key responsibilities include:
Owning and delivering product development projects, ensuring designs meet customer, quality, and regulatory requirements
Managing design activities including materials selection, manufacturing methods, and design for manufacture/assembly
Producing and overseeing full drawing packs, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and technical documentation to support SAP and compliance requirements
Leading, mentoring, and developing engineers, promoting a collaborative and high-performance culture
Working closely with Innovation, R&D, and manufacturing teams to translate concepts into manufacturable and cost-effective solutions
Driving continuous improvement, lean design principles, and best engineering practice throughout the business
The successful Engineering Manager will have:
Proven experience in an engineering design, NPD, or innovation-led environment
Strong leadership and people management experience
Extensive CAD experience (SolidWorks, Inventor or similar), including sheet metal design
A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, supplier engagement, and lean engineering principles
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments
