Production Manager
£60,000 – £70,000 Silverstone (with initial travel to London)
A rare opportunity to build a factory from scratch.
An exciting, fast-growing engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Production Manager to be the first operational leader at a brand-new manufacturing site. This is a career-defining role for someone who thrives on ownership, autonomy, and the challenge of setting up a high-performing production operation from a shell.
During the first 3–6 months, you will travel to London for product training and knowledge transfer before moving full-time to the Silverstone site.
The Role
You will have full accountability for the site, including people, processes, and performance. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the site from day one, setting up production workflows, KPIs, and operating rhythms
- Building and developing the production team and support functions
- Embedding a Lean / Operational Excellence culture (5S, TPM, RCCA, one-piece flow, waste reduction)
- Driving performance across safety, quality, OTD, lead times, costs, WIP, and OPEX
- Supporting new product introductions, prototype builds, and work transfers
- Planning capacity and capability to meet current and future demand
- Developing financial forecasts and operational budgets
- Creating a collaborative, high-engagement culture focused on continuous improvement
About You
- Experienced Production / Manufacturing leader with 5 years in operational management
- Proven track record in setting up or scaling a new or rapidly growing manufacturing site
- Background in regulated industries (Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Pharma, Food etc.)
- Hands-on leadership style with strong Lean / Continuous Improvement experience
- Skilled at managing multi-disciplinary teams, driving operational excellence, and embedding a high-performance culture
