Job Description:
We are seeking a Document Controller to join our team at our Head Office. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
Role OverviewThe Document Controller will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and coordinating all project documentation to support the delivery of construction and regeneration projects. You will ensure information is accurate, compliant, and easily accessible to project teams, clients, and subcontractors. This role is ideal for someone highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDocument & Data Management
Manage all project documentation in accordance with company processes and client standards
Control the flow of documents, ensuring quality and timely distribution
Keep drawing registers, revision histories, and change logs up to date
Maintain document numbering, naming conventions, and templates
Project Information Control
Upload, review, and manage documents using EDMS platforms (e.g., Viewpoint, 4Projects, SharePoint, BIM360)
Track document approvals, comments, and workflows
Coordinate documentation requirements with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients
Ensure proper issuance, receipt, and archiving of internal and external documents
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Support compliance with ISO standards, QA procedures, and project-specific requirements
Prepare documentation packs, O&M manuals, and handover records
Assist with audits, process reviews, and implementation of document control best practices
General Support
Provide administrative and coordination support to project and operational teams
Maintain effective communication channels to ensure smooth documentation processes
Support training and guidance for colleagues on document control systems and protocols
Experience as a Document Controller or similar role in construction, engineering, or related sectors
Strong understanding of document control processes and workflows
Experience with EDMS platforms such as Viewpoint, 4Projects, BIM360, Asite, or SharePoint
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Knowledge of ISO standards and QA processes is a plus
Minimum GCSE level or equivalent
Document management training or certification is advantageous but not essential
