You will be supporting pupils in Hounslow and the surrounding areas, helping autistic learners access the curriculum, build independence, and develop communication and social skills.Duties as Autism Specialist:

You will be supporting pupils in Hounslow and the surrounding areas, helping autistic learners access the curriculum, build independence, and develop communication and social skills.Duties as Autism Specialist:
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for autistic pupils
- Assist teachers in delivering structured, differentiated, and autism‑friendly learning activities
- Implement individual education plans, sensory programmes, and visual support strategies
- Support pupils with communication needs, including the use of AAC, PECS, or visual timetables
- Promote emotional regulation and provide strategies to manage anxiety
- Encourage positive peer interactions and social engagement
- Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate key information to staff
- Contribute to the wider school environment during longer‑term placements
- Previous experience supporting autistic pupils
- Understanding of SEND strategies such as visual supports, sensory regulation, social stories, and structured teaching
- Patience, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils
- Confident in implementing behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies
- Adaptable across different key stages and classroom environments
- Professional, reliable, and proactive in supporting teachers and pupils
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
