Job Title: Operations Manager

Salary: £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am–4:15pm (flexible working available)
Contract: Permanent
Location: Durham

A high‑performing industrial services site is seeking an Operations Manager to lead production performance, quality responsiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives across a fast‑paced, high‑volume, repeat‑process manufacturing environment. This role suits an experienced, results‑driven manager who enjoys autonomy, thrives in operational leadership, and delivers improvements through people, process, and problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

• Ensure rapid response to customer needs, managing service issues and leading root‑cause analysis investigations to prevent recurrence.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen activity and quality circles.

• Oversee output and volume performance, ensuring targets are met and operational KPIs are achieved.
• Plan resources, monitor production effectiveness, and ensure operations run efficiently and safely.
• Manage administrative elements such as training, H&S compliance, sickness processes and general team performance.

• Develop, propose and agree functional budgets with General Manager, monitoring, managing and controlling all activities in accordance with the agreed functional budget, investigating and resolving any variances.
• Provide managerial oversight to the on‑site Engineering team

Experience & Qualifications

• A high‑performance background in production or operational management within high‑volume, repeat‑process environments
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with proven experience managing H&S, training, and attendance
• Solid leadership experience with the ability to run operations autonomously
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge and Kaizen/CI experience is beneficial
• Ability to lead with authority while building strong relationships with cross‑functional teams
