- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Assist teachers in delivering adapted learning activities that support engagement
- Help implement individual behaviour plans and emotional regulation strategies
- Promote positive communication, confidence, and constructive relationships
- Support pupils in managing challenging behaviour in line with school policies
- Encourage participation, independence, and self-esteem
- Monitor pupil progress and share information with staff
- Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
- Understanding of trauma‑informed approaches and de-escalation strategies
- Calm, patient, and empathetic manner
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Adaptable across different classrooms and key stages
- Professional, reliable, and proactive
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
