An established independent school is seeking a full-time Interim Teacher of Engineering to join its Design & Technology faculty on a short-term basis until 27 March. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and skilled teacher to work within a well-resourced department that delivers a broad engineering curriculum across multiple key stages.
The RoleYou will be teaching Product Design to students aged 9–16 (up to GCSE level), supporting a curriculum that spans both lower and upper school phases. The department offers a dynamic and practical programme including Product Design, Systems & Control, and Electronics, alongside a strong enrichment programme.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s co-curricular activities and support students in developing creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
The Ideal CandidateThe role would suit:
An experienced teacher
An ECT/NQT
A candidate transitioning from industry or research
Applicants should demonstrate:
Strong subject knowledge in Engineering or Product Design
A genuine passion for teaching and learning
The ability to inspire and stretch students of all abilities
Excellent classroom practice (or clear potential)
Strong communication and organisational skills
A collaborative, professional approach
Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare
A DATA Core Health & Safety certification (or willingness to obtain) is desirable.
