Art Teacher – Alternative Provision

Are you a creative and resilient Art Teacher looking to make a meaningful impact in a specialist setting?

We are working on behalf of a well-established Alternative Provision in the London Borough of Hillingdon that is seeking a passionate Art specialist to join their dedicated team on a full-time, temp to perm basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to inspire and re-engage young people who are unable to attend mainstream school, predominantly due to permanent exclusion.

About the Provision

This specialist setting supports a diverse and dynamic cohort of pupils across a wide age range. Due to the nature of Alternative Provision and the varying needs of students, the cohort is transient, with pupils joining and leaving at different points throughout the academic year. The school prides itself on delivering personalised education in a supportive and structured environment.

The provision works with a wide range of pupils, including:

  • Students who have been fixed-term or permanently excluded from school
  • Students at risk of permanent exclusion
  • Young mums and pupils unable to attend school for medical reasons
  • Students requiring education other than at school (EOTAS), including disaffected pupils
  • Students who require additional support within school
  • Pupils who have recently moved into Hillingdon and are without an immediate school place
  • Students with identifiable additional needs that do not require an EHCP

The Role

As an Art Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons that inspire self-expression and confidence
  • Use art as a therapeutic and motivational tool to re-engage students in learning
  • Differentiate effectively to meet a wide range of academic and behavioural needs
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral and support teams

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Art at KS3 and/or KS4
  • Experience working with vulnerable learners or within Alternative Provision/PRU (desirable)
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom presence
  • A patient, adaptable and nurturing approach

What’s on Offer

  • Full-time, temp to perm opportunity
  • Paid to Teacher Pay Scale
  • Smaller class sizes and personalised teaching
  • Supportive and experienced leadership team
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives
